1994 Zig Jackson, Pirkle Jones, Library of Congress

Zig Jackson, Rising Buffalo, MFA Photo, 1994; Native American of Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara descent, was a TA for Pirkle Jones as you can see in Zig’s collage that includes a wonderful portrait of both him and Pirkle. Jackson’s series, “Zig’s Reservation” from 1997 includes scenes of S.F. In 2005 Zig made history when the Library of Congress announced that: “Zig Jackson Is First Contemporary Native American Photographer Represented at the Library of Congress.” [2005? WTH  had the LOC been doing all those decades?]
