Eddie Muller, did “a stint in George Kuchar’s notorious narrative filmmaking class” at SFAI in the late 1970s. Muller starred in Kuchar’s class film Symphony for a Sinner. This educational exertion culminated in Muller’s 16mm film Bay City Blues, a tribute to Raymond Chandler that was a 1979 finalist for a Student Academy Award. Muller, host of Turner Classic Movies’ Noir Alley is the author of numerous books and articles on film noir and has been labeled the “Czar of Noir.”
