Mollie Katzen (BFA ‘72), studied painting at SFAI with Jack Jefferson, Bruce McGaw, and David Hannah. Katzen may very well have been influenced by the “gourmet SFAI cafe” that included a “menu of French bread sandwiches, homemade soup, fresh fruit, German Chocolate cake…natural sandwiches, and goodies.”Since 1977 Katzen’s vegetarian Moosewood Cookbook, along with her many other titles, have “been at the forefront of the revolution in American eating habits.” [Ten Speed Press]. Katzen’s line of terrific cookbooks have sold over 6 million copies, and, of course, are illustrated by this SFAI alum.
