1963 Cissie Swig, Bruce Conner, Adaline Kent, Robert Howard

By the early 1960s the SFAI News had changed to a square 9”x9” format with this snazzy font.  This square format mimicked the college catalog and the brand new Artforum magazine, all designed by faculty member James Robertson. Lots of news here:  Bruce Conner received the Nealie Sullivan Award which had been established by Adaline Kent (and was later named after her), also a “Faculty Exhibit Now in Gallery,” and tickets were being sold for the 1963 Fine Arts Auction sponsored by Cissie Swig and Mrs. John Lyman, shown sitting on the pond in the courtyard admiring Robert Howard’s floating sculpture.

With permission, SFAA is re-posting the emails Jeff Gunderson Librarian/Archivist Anne Bremer Memorial Library has been sending out since March 2020. Please enjoy this magnificent archive.
