It may not have been the School’s Design Department behind the dynamic graphics and stunning layout for this front page of the December 1959 Issue of THE TOWER, the mimeographed Student Newspaper hustling the Christmas Party for students and faculty which featured “2 Great Bands” including “The Original Non-Objective Jazz Band” along with the “Studio 13 Jazz Band…with the golden voice of Bubbles Baliantz” and a “special added attraction, “Bill Morehouse and Friends.” Attendees would have included—Joan Brown, Jeanette Etheredge, William T. Wiley, Manuel Neri, Bob Nelson, Elmer Bischoff, Lisa Esherick, Ernie Kim, Jerry Burchard, George McWilliams, Dick Diebenkorn, Wally Hedrick, Fred Martin, Beverly Pabst and her sister. This may very well have been the party that students Sung Woo Chun and Carlos Villa remembered as when the Pabst sisters, who lived in the Fairmont Hotel, got their daddy to truck over a load of Blue Ribbon that filled the pond in the courtyard. Happy Holidays!!!
