Korean-American faculty member, Ernie Kim was a pre-dental student prior to his service as a paratrooper during WW2, where he was wounded during an assault on a German tank at the Battle of the Bulge.  Kim recuperated for 3 years at Letterman Hospital in S.F where he first learned ceramics.  He taught at CSFA/SFAI from 1957 through 1962 where he met his wife, Lise who had been a member of the Danish underground during the war. Kim later went on to be a teacher and administrator at the Richmond Art Center.
