Clay Spohn’s “Museum of Little Known and Unknown Objects” installed in Studio 13 was one of the “distractions” for a party held at the School in December 1949 that had as its theme: “The Unknown.” Spohn’s installation of found fugitive material and ephemera is noted for launching California dada/funk/raw assemblage sculpture which took root in the Bay Area in the 1950s.
