1937 Una McCann, SFAI Lost Frescoes, Bay Bridge, Diego Rivera, Studio 26

StudentFrescoes by individual artists and as group projects were painted around the School in the 1930s, including one of farm life by Una McCann (1913-2013) that was done for the Café (now Studio 26).  McCann was the only woman to be allowed on the site of the Bay Bridge where she did a set of drawings during its construction.  In 1940 she assisted Diego Rivera with his Pan American Unity mural at the Golden Gate International Exposition.

With permission, SFAA is re-posting the emails Jeff Gunderson Librarian/Archivist Anne Bremer Memorial Library has been sending out since March 2020. Please enjoy this magnificent archive.
