1925 Rea Irvin, SFAI, The New Yorker, Eustace Tilley


Alumnus Rea Irvin, the first art editor for The New Yorker, designed the magazine’s layout and the now-iconic typeface, did hundreds of cartoons,  and created the character Eustace Tilley, who graced the cover of the first issue, Feb. 21, 1925.
